• Electrical Disconnect:

  • Installed on both indoor and outdoor units for power control.
  • Critical for safely turning off power during maintenance.
  • Types:
    • Amperage
    • Fused
    • Non-Fused
  • Common Sizes: 30 and 60 amp for residential use.

• Electrical Whip:

  • Pre-built kit containing wiring to connect the electrical disconnect to the unit.
  • Available in various gauges and wire numbers, typically 6 feet long.
  • Common sizes: ½ inch or ¾ inch diameter with 6 or 8 gauge wire.
  • Pre-sleeved in conduit with connecting nuts pre-installed.
  • Some local codes may require metal conduit instead of PVC.

• Condenser Pad:

  • A base for the condensing unit, made of hard plastic or concrete.
  • Condenser Risers:
    • Raise the unit 3 to 6 inches above the ground.
    • Especially important for heat pumps to keep the unit above snow level in winter.

• Mounting Systems:

  • Condensing Unit Mounting Brackets:
    • Used for attaching units to the side of a building.
    • Common in mini-split systems but can also be used in standard split systems.
  • Roof Curb:
    • Connects the rooftop unit to the roof.
    • Made of wood or steel, sealed completely to the roof.
  • Rooftop Mounting Supplies:
    • Used to raise power, gas, refrigerant, and water lines above the roof surface.
    • Prevents lines from touching the roof, typically made of lumber or prefabricated steel.
