R22:
Status: Banned for future import and production in the U.S. due to high global warming and ozone depletion potential.
Composition: Contains chlorine (HCFC).
Use: Previously the most common refrigerant, still found in older systems.
Class: A1 (low flammability, low toxicity, occupational limit 1000 PPM).
Environmental Impact: GWP over 1700, ODP 0.05.
Lubrication: Uses mineral oil for lubrication.
R410A:
Status: Most common refrigerant today, but may be phased out due to high GWP.
Composition: HFC (no chlorine, low ozone impact).
Class: A1 (low flammability, low toxicity, occupational limit 1000 PPM).
Environmental Impact: GWP over 1900, ODP 0.
Lubrication: Uses synthetic lubricants.
Future Outlook: Both R22 and R410A are being phased out, with environmentally friendly alternatives expected to replace them.
